What I Learned at Mel’s Diner one Day

Brunch at Mel’s Diner with this mustache might just become a new Saturday morning tradition. I thoroughly enjoyed too many cups of strong coffee while discussing big dreams and making big efforts to settle down and establish roots in our city. Great cities are delicate friends – you have to treat them just right to see their best side. It takes quite a bit more energy to belong somewhere than it does to exist there. It is for that reason that my husband and I have been driving all over the roads of Lafayette Parish in search of South Louisiana’s right side of the bed. It is our resolution to stop waiting on happiness to come find us in our lonely cave and to scavenge for it like our lives depend on it. And maybe they do. Find something to smile about in the place where you live. Be nice to your habitat and it will be nice to you.
