God promises us that he has a dwelling prepared for us and that he will bring us to the completion of that promise. He even tells a scared and skeptical Thomas that He Himself is the way into that dwelling. But with troubled hearts and anxious minds, we are still trying – as Thomas did- to find the dwelling on our own. Desperate for knowledge instead of wisdom, we are looking for a quick fix to an ancient sin. We want control instead of instruction. We want a map instead of a guide. And we want desperately to see the end of our journey before we begin. “Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice.” But we choose to turn away and our aversion to calamity is killing us gently. “For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them; but whoever listens to me will DWELL SECURE and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.”
